Bresha Webb biography
Daughter of a gospel singer and professional dancer, it is no surprise that Bresha Webb has found herself with a career in the performing arts. At a young age, Bresha’s mother suggested she follow her footsteps and explore dance. A few lessons later, Bresha made the transition into acting with her parents’ blessings after her dance teacher claimed she talked too much. Webb soon enrolled in acting classes at the Arena Playhouse in Baltimore, MD and quickly branched out to other local venues, including the legendary Center Stage. She starred in many plays, including “Fences” and “Le Blanc,” where Bresha caught the eye of Donald Hicken, head of the Baltimore School of the Arts theater division. Impressed by her performance, Hicken invited Bresha to audition for their program, shortly after which she joined. In 2002, she won the NAACP ACT-SO award and was selected to represent Baltimore at the finals in Texas. Following the competition, Webb graduated from BSA and continued her education at Catonsville Community College where she studied communications. A theater-less curriculum drove Webb to get back into performing. She jumped at the opportunity to audition for Cal Arts and secured herself a spot on their roster, however, needed to come up with the funds to attend. With the help of her church, Division Of Rehabilitation Services, and a homegrown dog-walking business, Bresha raised enough money to cover her tuition.
